At Ribbonwood Retreat guests will experience privacy, tranquility and kiwi hospitality. Every room has views of farmland, glaciers, sheer mountain peaks and the Okarito forest, home to kiwi.
It's called Ribbonwood after the beautiful big tree that grows near the Retreat. Once common, these trees are palatable to possums as well as livestock and are now in decline. Hosts Jo and Julie planted Ribbonwoods and many other species to attract native birds into their garden. Maori proverb: 'if you cut the heart of the flax bush, where will the bellbird sing?'
